Tangled in the silence of the night, diminished when the dust settles in
It's cold inside a blanket of fate, cornered by the forward parade

I'm feeling for the people who think another side is green
The life you lead is fine when you keep the water running clean

My right hand's got it's scars and the arm is burned from joint to joint
Keeps me fed and sheltered, but sometimes, brings out my weak points

I take it back for nothing the work will keep my brain alive
If it weren't for all the standing I don't know that I'd survive

My left hand's got a callus from every note I've played
I thought that it would get me by and sometimes, I wish that thought had stayed
